Good Neighbor
Love Your Neighbor As Yourself
Book Description:
In a world that is every man for himself, love rarely extends beyond the boundaries of our homes. For generations, we placed our fleeting wants above the lives of our neighbors as our children watch, learn, and grow.
The future of the world looks dark while men learn to refine their love for self. However, a glimmer of hope emerged with Jesus’ teaching of “Love your neighbor as yourself”.
This colorful wordless picture book presents this teaching with a joyful and touching story of two children who, through a meal, discover that it’s more blessed to give than to receive.
Good Neighbor has simple, easy-to-understand illustrations. The wordlessness of the book allows children to make up their own story or for parents to explain the concept of “love your neighbor” in a way that is appropriate for a targeted age (I would recommend this book for children in preschool to second grade). There are ample opportunities for children and parents to have a discussion. The plot gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling at the end – something I always look forward to in reading picture books.
